Since I've Been Gone

So you've all probably noticed I've been away for a coupla days. I've had a lot of stuff to take care of recently, and just about all of it has gone wrong. I've been in a really, really bad mood. But today I'm feeling a bit more hopeful that it was just a bit of bad luck.

Oh, and I'm turning 26 in a few weeks. Yep, it's almost the 17th of October again already. And not to sound all "GIMME GIMME GIMME," but if anyone feels the Karmatic urge to buy me a birthday present, here's the link to my Amazon.com Wish List: [link].

No, a present is not required, but it would certainly make me feel good.

Not My Lucky Day

The inevitable happened yesterday. Meghan and I were driving in my truck to the mall in order to have her necklace inspected, and we forgot to grab the paperwork. We were at an intersection, and so I checked to see if I could make a u-turn. I looked ahead to see if any cars were coming, I looked behind me to see if any cars were coming in the other lane, then I looked ahead again. I hit my blinker to merge and then turn left, and as soon as I started to merge, BAM...I got nailed by a Ford F-150.

My vision went all cloudy as my airbag DID NOT deploy, and I managed to control the truck and pull over onto the opposite shoulder. During the collision, my head hit where the seatbelt attaches to the inside of the cab and shattered the cover. I have a nice bump now, and my head bled a little bit. Meghan's head bounced off the headrest, and she's suffering from a headache and some mild whiplash.

The police were called, and we had an ambulance sent over tight away. Meghan went to the hospital as I stayed to talk with the officer and fill out an accident report. I took some photos of the damage with my camera phone. My truck is trashed. There's no way it can be fixed and road-worthy again. I've already called my insurance company, and they're going to have an adjuster call me either Monday or Tuesday. We'll move on from there.

We're both feeling a bit better now, and we got a script for some Flexoril for Meghan. I also need to keep an eye on how I'm feeling and call the insurance company back if I feel any worse. I'll also be sure to update on the situation as it progresses.

New Ideas Flow Like Wine

So I came up with an idea for a new story. This one I'd really like to turn into a comic, and I think it's actually something that could get published. Considering, of course, I'm able to really develop it and all. But right now, that's neither here nor there.

The title I have in my head is "Children Of War," and it's about a group of post-apocalyptic children taking on an army of men with guns using nothing but an old tank. In this future, humanity has shunned and done away with technology, blaming it for what I'm calling "The Great Calamity." However, amidst the turmoil in the heartland, an army is rising, destroying everything in their path. And they have guns while so many others have no way to defend themselves. The main character's father is an exiled inventor and engineer, and he pilots a re-built tank with his friends.

I guess it could theoretically be marketted as a kid's comic (as well as an adult's), but I want it to be about growing up and facing challenges. You know, shit like that. Also, I wrote a small plot synopsis at work cuz it was hella slow and boring today. Chances are I'll post that sometime soon.
